Big Data and Hadoop Story

http://learnezy.net/
What is Hadoop?
Hadoop was created by Doug Cutting and Mike Cafarella in the year 2005. Doug Cutting named the framework after his child’s stuffed yellow toy elephant. Doug used the name for his open source project because it was relatively easy to spell, pronounce and meaningless.

Beginning in the 1930s, this timeline covers the explosion of information and how Big Data has created the need to organize and save information. Big data is a collection of data sets so large and complex that it becomes difficult to process using on-hand database management tools or traditional data processing applications.

Today, 1,000 Facebook employees use Presto to crunch a petabyte (as in 1,000,000 gigabytes) of data every single day. As data increasing every day we need Hadoop to scale up from a single server to thousands of machines, with very high degree of fault tolerance. Rather than relying on high-end hardware, the resiliency of these clusters comes from the software's ability to detect and handle failures at the application layer.

Salary and Hadoop jobs market data reveals growing demand for Hadoop and analytics professionals in India and aboard. New job opportunities are emerging for IT professionals in the field of “big data,” the term used to describe how corporations gather vast amounts of real-time data about their customers and analyze that data to drive decision making and increase profitability.

The IT services segment will be the major contributor to the Big Data services market, currently accounting for 82.9 percent of revenues, followed by analytics with 17.1 percent. India’s big data industry is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 83 percent.
